Dragons on The Spectrum

Each session focuses on a specific social-emotional skill, which is then explored through a collaborative tabletop role-playing adventure. Participants learn about the skill at the beginning of the session and are supported to apply it throughout the story in real time.

Children step into the role of their own character and work together as a team to navigate an unfolding fantasy world. Along the way, they are supported to:

· Create and develop their own character

· Collaborate to solve challenges and complete shared quests

· Explore new environments and story scenarios

· Face obstacles and overcome in-game encounters by choosing between combat, communication, or creative problem-solving strategies

· Engage in meaningful social interaction that involves teamwork, perspective-taking, and flexible thinking

Through active participation in the adventure, children have repeated opportunities to practise and strengthen social skills in a naturalistic, engaging context that supports generalisation beyond the group.
